Overview

Seeking Software Lifecycle Documentation and Records Management professionals to serve on a prime contract project team providing Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V), Testing, Software Configuration Management (SCM), and Software Process Improvement (SPI) support to the US Postal Service. 

Responsibilities

Selected candidates will apply advanced knowledge, skills and best practices in software lifecycle records and documentation generation and management processes in working with USPS management and software development teams supporting software development and implementation projects. SDLC will include traditional (e.g. waterfall) and modern (e.g., Agile) formats.  The Records Specialist responsibilities include:

  • Management of software development life cycle of information from initial publication or creation through archival and eventual disposal
  • Management and simplification of storage, security, version control, process routing, and retention
  • Management of physical and electronic records
  • Review, verify, and validate that SDLC records and documentation are managed according to USPS policies and procedures;
  • Implement all of the above in accordance with standard concepts, practices, and procedures such as ISO 15489
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with peers and senior management. 
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, recommend improvements.

Qualifications

Senior: BS + 6 years relevant experience, including staff supervision and customer interface responsibilities. Additional years relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements.

 

Mid: BS + 2 years relevant experience

Additional years relevant experience may be substituted for education requirements.

 

The Senior Records Specialist is required to have knowledge, skills and experience in SDLC records, content, and information management in a software development environment in all of the following areas; the Mid-Level in most of the following areas:

  • Management of software development life cycle of information from initial publication or creation through archival and eventual disposal
  • Recommendation and development of relevant processes and procedures
  • Management and simplification of storage, security, version control, process routing, and retention
  • Management of physical and electronic records
  • Review, verification, and validation that SDLC records and documentation are managed according to USPS policies and procedures;
  • Implementation of all of the above in accordance with standard concepts, practices, and procedures such as ISO 15489
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pass a Government Background Check including a Drug Screen.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in an ISO 15489 registered records management environment
  • All: Experience in an Agile and/or Dev/Ops software development environment
  • Experience in Software Process Improvement environment.
  • Experience with SharePoint
  • Able to reflect on past experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
