Overview

Enterprise Information Services, Inc. is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to support the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). The candidate will perform the following activities: Active Directory Administration including, creating new accounts, rights, file permissions.  Group policy administration including, policy creation, testing, and implementation.  DNS administration, including “A” record creation and DNS database administration. Server and Wan hardware support.  Security support and administration.  Analyze WAN infrastructure and make recommendations to decrease latency and improve network efficiency.  User support, including software and hardware issues.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ongoing support and maintenance of existing Active Directory.
  • Assist in the architecture, upgrade, documentation, and monitoring/alerting of Active Directory.
  • Perform general system engineering tasks in a geographically dispersed environment.
  • Active monitoring and incident response and management of critical infrastructure systems using industry standard monitoring tools and systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues that potentially span hardware as well as software, to identify root cause and implement immediate and long term corrective action.
  • Working knowledge of VMware and vSphere administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, VoIP and VDI support.
  • Working knowledge of basic Cisco switching and networking.
  • Assist in the research, design, implementation, and testing of Disaster Recovery solutions.
  • Collect and present data for reporting, technical direction, and capacity planning.
  • Assist in scheduling hardware and software installations and upgrades.
  • Assist with planning and implementation of short and long range strategies, changes in configuration, technology and processes.
  • Thorough and accurate tracking all issues using Remedy tracking system.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science preferred, MCSE, or equivalent work experience required.
  • US Citizenship required
  • Able to pass a government background check
  • 5 years of progressive technical network experience
  • Hardware Technologies: HP ProLiant, Dell and Blade Systems, Panasonic, Dell, and HP laptops and workstations
  • Server Operating Systems: Server 2003/2008/2008R2/2012
  • App/Server Technologies: Active Directory, WINS, DNS, TCP/IP
  • Script writing skills
  • Operating Systems: Windows XP , Windows 7 , Windows 8.1 and Windows 10
  • Strong understanding of Windows operating systems security
  • Microsoft Office XP/2003/2007/2010/2013/Office 365
  • Must have experience providing end user technical support
  • Experience optimizing networks for performance and configuring computer workstations
  • Experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting of related network components
  • Excellent customer service skills and telephone support etiquette
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Ability to work well as a team member or independently and to complete work tasks efficiently and quickly
  • Ability to take direction and learn new technologies
  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Able to solve problems using a methodical and logical approach
  • Some travel required
