The United States Postal Service (USPS) operates a complex logistics operation to transport mail and equipment between its mail processing and delivery facilities. While some of the local transportation service within the larger metropolitan areas is provided by postal employees, the majority of the network is serviced by highway contract suppliers. The complexity of the network requires continuous adaptations, resulting in requests for new service, or contract modifications. Transportation purchasing in the USPS environment requires technically skilled and knowledgeable personnel who specialize in the commodity, and that are well versed in procurement, contract administration, and contract law.
Executive assistant experience (working directly for senior management)
All supplier employees or subcontractors must have extensive contracting experience, particularly in the transportation commodity. Familiarity, with the USPS Supplying Principles and Practices and Transportation Contract Support System (TCSS) is a plus, however not required. Ability to pass and hold a government security clearance is required.
