  • Overview

    The Security Inspections Lead will be a part of a team of security professionals that achieves the Department of State (DOS) Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA) Risk Management Framework Projects goal of lowering cybersecurity risks to CA systems from internal and external threats. The Security Inspections Lead will be responsible for completing all site inspection tasks.


    • Physical inspections of the CA contractor sites to ensure that the sites meet DOS security guidelines and configuration guidelines. Sites include, but are not limited to domestic contractor site, CA Agency, and CA processing centers.
    • Ensuring compliance with Federal guidelines mandated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), IRM, DS, and CA.
    • Conducting Physical Security inspections of every domestic contractor site, CA Agency, and CA processing center, to include the following actions:
    • Checking entry controls, access controls, server rooms, alarms, access lists, and locks and make recommendations where appropriate.
    • Ensuring server rooms, switch closets, and infrastructure cabinets are constructed to meet intrusion detection standards, that correct locking and day-access hardware is in place, and combinations are changed on schedule and documented appropriately;
    • Confirm encryption devices are used for all circuits that process OpenNet+ traffic;
    • Perform system security audits; and deliver reports on the condition or outcome of the physical security review within ten (10) days of the review
    • In addition, the SI Lead is required to assist the CA Security Staff with conducting annual physical security reviews of all overseas contractor sites.


    • Active Secret (or higher) clearance required.
    • DoD 8590:  IAM Level II – CAP, GSLC, CISM or CISSP (or Associate)
    • 10 years of experience with federal government facility inspections
    • 25% travel required
    • Site Inspection will require the selected candidate have the ability to stand, walk, climb, twist, bend, strong attention to detail, verbal and written communication, hear  and visually see in color.
