  • Overview

    The Database Architect will support the DHS Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO) program office under the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) to focus on developing DHS enterprise-wide architecture strategies, directives, policies, procedures and standards for the management of data to ensure that DHS data is understandable, trusted, visible, accessible and interoperable.

    Responsibilities

    • Support the establishment of enterprise level data management and governance programs and monitor the implementation and program compliance
    • Function as an adviser to component organizations on matters pertaining to the enterprise data architecture and ensuring component systems and application comply with the data management policies and guidelines.
    • Expected to have experience in data modeling, developing requirements and utilizing automated tools to support data management, governance, and data stewardship.
    • Develop information sharing specifications within DHS and with external organizations such as NIEM. 

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    • 5 - 10 years of experience as an enterprise data architect performing on projects supporting Federal government agencies.
    • Experience with the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) or similar data exchange standards.
    • Must have Data Modeling experience. 
    • Must have a DHS EOD or secret clearance.
    • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills, able to effectively communicate with individuals in senior level positions. 

    Preferred:

    • Should have in-depth knowledge of Legislative and OMB guidance and directives related to Federal enterprise architecture requirements.
    • Should have in-depth knowledge of the FEA Data Reference Model (DRM) and segment architecture. 
    • Should have experience with reference data, data quality, and master data management.
    • Should be comfortable working in a SharePoint environment.
    • Should have experience working with the data governance tool, Collibra
