  • Overview

     

    Assist USCG Facilities Design and Construction Center (FDCC) in developing Design/Build (D/B) Request for Proposals (RFP) for various USCG facilities to include but not limited to Administrative, Industrial, Dining/Galley, Housing and Boat Maintenance Facilities. FDCC, Norfolk, has a small staff of 28 encompassing planning, engineering, architect and contracting disciplines. FDCC is receiving over $400 million in Hurricane Supplemental funding in FY18 to restore the Coast Guard facilities in Texas, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Puerto Rico to pre-hurricane status.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Provide engineering design services to the FDCC for assigned Design/Build projects.  Typical tasks the Contractor employee will perform include:
    • Provide architectural/engineering trouble-shooting or consultations for USCG projects and installations.
    • Provide technical and project development advice and guidance to FDCC Project Managers.
    • Conduct comprehensive technical reviews of professional studies, reports and analysis.
    • Collaborate with managers, other engineers/architects, construction project managers, legal staff, contract specialists and or contractor personnel, and provide advice and insight on the resolution of unique and/or complex engineering problems and disputes.
    • Provide technical reviews and review/resolve comments for Design/Build and A/E contractor submittals.
    • Provide technical responses for A/E and contractor requests for information and coordinates with applicable FDCC Project Managers.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Architecture or equivalent from ABET Certified School.
    • 7 years experience in engineering speciality.

    • Mastery of engineering concepts, principles, and practices equivalent to a Senior Engineer.

    • Demonstrated experience in all sub-disciplines of engineering/architecture (power, lighting, waterfront systems, IT & communications, fire detection and alarm).

    • Prior experiences in developing/reviewing design/build specifications and Request for Proposal's (RFPs) is required.
